Trial Games InformationWhat are trial games and why do we have them?Trial games are a great way to get some running into the legs, meet team mates, get a ball at the feet and start preparing for the season. To go into the first round without any preparation, not knowing who is playing in what position and even not knowing team mates names is far from ideal. Why has it taken so long to organise them? All clubs are allocated a very short amount of time on either Pluim Park and or Bloodtree Oval at Mangrove Mountain. Outside of that, clubs need to hire school grounds and sports complexes to do anything more. Clubs need to decide what they will do with their allocated or hired ground time. Some will use it for trial games amongst themselves, others for grading and some will invite other clubs to interclub trials. Usually it is a combination of all three. We’re a big club and to conduct trial games where everyone gets a go, we have to align with three and sometimes four smaller clubs. For this reason, sometimes age groups and grades don’t match exactly but the games are minitored and it is better than no game at all. We are all finalising our grading around about now and this needs to be completed before we can work out who is going to play who. Some clubs have several volunteers to help with all this and some have very few.Once the season proper gets underway, Central Coast Football coordinate all the fixtures and, wether permitting, it runs like clockwork. There are no games scheduled for middle of the upcoming school holidays unless Rounds 1 or 2 are washed out. If this happens, the whole round will be dropped into that spare weekend.
Our wonderful women’s premier league team has topped their Pool and now go on to the semi finals.Congratulations ladies!Semi Final Sunday 24 March 11.00 on Pluim No2
